Why Converged Infrastructure

Converged/hyper-converged infrastructure, at its core, is the consolidation of multiple IT components into a purpose-built form-factor. These components typically include; compute, storage, network and virtualization infrastructure. For hyper-converged, network would be abstracted (meaning simply that switch infrastructure is external to the system).

The benefits of implementing this kind of solution are numerous but typically include a lower total cost of ownership, a fixed form-factor which impacts floor space, cooling and power and a system that can massively scale with various workload configurations.
